CyclingIconGrand Rapids’ Tom Burke finished just off the podium in fourth place Friday in the Masters Men’s 30-34 race at the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

Burke, riding for the Midwest Cycling Group, finished just behind German’s Sven Baumann of in-state rival Wolverine Sports Club, who finished third for the final podium spot.

Burke completed the 5-lap, 7.8-kilometer race in 42:22, 16 seconds ahead of Burke.

Thomas Turner, 49, of Team Jamis took the Rainbow Jersey as world champion in 41:10, 19 seconds ahead of runner-up Kevin McConnell of Mercy-Specialized/Iowa City Cycles.
